N'golo Kante

Barca and PSG could battle for French midfielder

With Barcelona looking for additions in the centre of the field, Chelsea legend N’Golo Kante has emerged as a possible target for the summer of 2023.

The Frenchman, who is currently recovering from surgery, is set to become free agent at the end of the current season and is being eyed by the Blaugrana as a possible midfield reinforcement.

However, according to SPORT, PSG have joined Barça in their pursuit of Kante, which could present a problem for the La Liga leaders in their pursuit of the Frenchman.

Kante has had injury issues in the last year or so, and he is slowly recovering from one. He is expected to be back to action in January of next year, after which he will be able to make a decision about his future.

As things stand, a renewal at Chelsea looks unlikely, with the Blues keen to bolster their midfield options. It has paved the way for the 2018 FIFA World Cup champion to leave in the summer.

Barcelona are reportedly preparing for a possible move to Camp Nou if Kante decides to depart Chelsea in the summer. The Catalan titans are said to be in touch with his entourage for months at least in order to position themselves favourably.

However, PSG has now entered the arena as an interested party in Kante, despite the fact that he is not a priority for Les Parisiens. Indeed, the Ligue 1 club’s director, Luis Campos, might well prefer to sign youngsters, but Kante is a secondary option.

According to the report, PSG are not currently serious about signing the Chelsea star, but their presence could aggravate the situation for Barcelona, as the player’s camp may now raise their wage demands.

In any case, the report indicates that Kante would probably move to La Liga. However, Barça will make a decision on the next step in their hunt after assessing how he performs following his injury layoff, as well as his wage demands.
