Pablo Gavi

Barca can’t register Gavi to the first-team without some departures

Many young players have exerted a strong influence on the biggest stage during the ongoing Qatar World Cup. Few, however, can claim to have a talent with quite a ceiling as high as Gavi’s.

Spain’s national team may be out of the tournament after losing to Morocco, but the impression the teenage star had on fans all over the world is difficult to forget. He won hearts around the world while representing his country with his never-say-die mindset and raw enthusiasm.

According to Luis Rojo, Barcelona has yet to officially renew Gavi’s contract and integrate him into the first team. This is due to a lack of space on the economic roster, and players will have to leave in order for it to be possible.

Gavi’s situation would not normally be concerning in the middle of the season, but it is now because of his outstanding performance at the World Cup. With his market value at an all-time high, Xavi will want to secure the teenager’s future at Barcelona with a first-team deal.

The midfielder started all four of Spain’s World Cup games this year and even scored one goal. Furthermore, he averaged over ten defensive actions per match and was a constant presence in the middle of the park for Spain.

All eyes will be on Barcelona’s board to see how quickly they can complete the necessary player exits. Memphis Depay’s exit is already said to be ongoing, and France Kessie is another possible departure. Even a single departure would allow the Catalans to add the La Masia graduate as the newest member of the senior squad.
