Fabrizio Romano Confirms Real Madrid Have no Buyback Clause on Ødegaard

Since his permanent transfer to Arsenal in the summer of 2021, Martin Odegaard has excelled and has become a crucial member of the Gunners’ team under the guidance of Mikel Arteta. He has even been appointed as the club captain for this season.

At just 24 years old, Martin Odegaard has consistently delivered outstanding performances in the Premier League, helping Arsenal rise to the top of the table with a seven-point lead. In 15 matches this season, he has scored seven goals and assisted on five more for his teammates.

Given Martin Odegaard’s impressive form since joining Arsenal in 2021, there were rumors that Real Madrid may regret selling him and potentially have a buyback option or first-refusal clause included in the transfer deal. However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid does not have a buyback option for the attacking midfielder, who is reportedly ‘in love’ with the project at Arsenal.

After impressing during his loan spell at Arsenal in January 2021, the Gunners made a push for a permanent signing of the midfielder later that summer. However, Real Madrid initially resisted selling him during June and July before eventually allowing the transfer to go through.

Despite initially facing resistance from Real Madrid, Arsenal managed to secure the permanent signing of Martin Odegaard for less than €40 million, which has proven to be a great investment. Meanwhile, Real Madrid is reportedly focusing on strengthening their midfield next summer with Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund as their top target, rather than considering a move for Odegaard.
