Graham Potter apparently wants Chelsea to buy Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona.
Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are both keen on the 25-year-old forward, according to Sport.fr.
According to the article, Blues manager Potter, in particular, would love to have the Barcelona winger as part of his team at Stamford Bridge.
Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is believed to want Dembele to agree to a contract renewal at the Camp Nou, since his current agreement expires in 2024. However, this is proving to be a challenging task right now.
As Chelsea’s head coach, Potter is now going to shop in the top quality section.
The former Brighton manager should be allowed to dream about working with some of the world’s finest players, something he did not have earlier in his career.
When he’s in the mood, Dembele, who makes £199,000 per week (Salary Sport), is one of the world’s most entertaining wide players.
The lightning-quick winger is having a good World Cup with France, who play Morocco in the semi-finals tonight.
Dembele, described by Wayne Rooney as “very fantastic” and “unpredictable,” has the ability to illuminate the Premier League if he decides to leave Barcelona for a transfer to England. If Rooney thinks you’re a good forward, you’re doing a lot of different things well.
Chelsea’s attacking line clearly has to kick into gear if they are to challenge for championships again.
Despite having a lot of quality on the team, the attack has looked lifeless at times this season.
It appears that a personnel shake-up is required to improve the team’s fortunes moving ahead, thus acquiring Dembele would provide a huge boost.
