Achraf Hakimi

Will Achraf Hakimi ever return to Real Madrid?

According to The Hard Tackle, Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi wants to return to former club Real Madrid because he is unhappy at the French capital club.

Hakimi rose up the ranks at Real Madrid before breaking into the main squad in 2017. However, he was unable to secure a starting spot under Zinedine Zidane and was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund for two years in 2018. The Moroccan defender flourished in the Bundesliga, making the best of his 2 years with Black and Yellows.

However, as he returned to Real Madrid, Los Blancos chose to promptly transfer him to Inter Milan. Hakimi excelled in Italy once more, helping the Nerazzurri win the Serie A title in 2020/21. However, due to the club’s financial difficulties, they were forced to sell him last year, as the right-back negotiated a lucrative move to PSG.

Hakimi has had a difficult season after joining the French capital side in a transfer costing more than €60 million. While he has shown his undeniable talent, the former Real Madrid star has failed to deliver on a consistent basis, an issue that has afflicted the whole PSG squad this season, resulting to their elimination by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

This time, he’s having a fantastic season with PSG, combining effectively with Ramos, Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar. The right-back is having an excellent World Cup campaign with Morocco, who have achieved history by becoming the first African side to reach the semi-finals.

Real Madrid are looking for a new right-back to eventually replace Dani Carvajal. The Spaniard has suffered with fitness issues in recent seasons, as well as symptoms of age starting to catch up with him. So, at the Bernabeu, a long-term successor is required, and Hakimi is one of the candidates being explored.

The 24-year-old now wishes to return to the Bernabeu. But, he is aware that a transfer will be hard to complete owing to the bad relationship between the two clubs as a result of Kylian Mbappe’s broken transfer talks this summer. So it remains to be seen whether Hakimi returns to his childhood club or continues at PSG to battle it out.
